German Embassy to sponsor to train skills development for females recovering from drugs


The German Embassy sponsored Micro project in Maldives, has been scheduled for 14th October 10:00 – 11:00hrs at the Society for Women Against Drugs which will be opened by the German Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Dr Juergen Morhard.



The German Embassy through its Micro projects scheme for 2013 have collaborated with the Society for Women Against Drugs as the implementation partner for the project "Skills development for females who are recovering from drugs".

The main activity was the training of 20 women who have recovered from drug addiction as training of the trainers. The project duration was for 4 months for the training of the trainers.



The said 20 women were supposed to produce handicrafts and others similar products for the market and would also train the next batch of women.

The grant amount of EUR 8,433/- was to enable SWAD to purchase the material for vocational training, buying 10 sewing machines, making of a wooden table cloth weaving machine as well as payment for a trainer to train the initial batch of 20 women.
