Spokesperson of the Adhaalath Party, Sheikh Ali Zahir has said that the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has been encouraging the renegades who make a partisan Friday prayer congregation every Friday at Dharumavantha Mosque.
Ali Zahir wrote on Facebook that it is very worrying that a political party is trying to achieve their political agenda using a renegade extremist group.
Ali Zahir said that he condemns that a former President is involved in this. He said that MDP is trying to use the renegades to politicize the issue and achieve their political agenda.
Miadhu Daily understands that last Friday, MDP member Mohamed Rasheed gave the Adhan to Friday prayer at Dharumavantha Mosque participating with the renegades.
Last Friday, the Friday prayer was held later than it was held previously in the Dharumavantha Mosque.
Ali Zahir made the remark after MDP helped the renegades to hold the Friday Prayer in Dharumavantha Mosque after the Imam got arrested recently.
