PPM has called on EC to follow and conduct their activities within the legal means set.
A letter sent by the Party, signed by Deputy Secretary General Abdul Aleem said the Party wanted the Commission to conduct their activities within the legal means and in a responsible manner.
The letter said the Commission Law clearly stipulates their mandate, which includes and is limited to registering political parties and any related activities.
PPM’s letter said no law said that EC was the parent agency of political parties, adding that EC role was to simply to register parties and run elections.
PPM’s letter came after EC issued a caution letter against PPM President Maumoon Abdul Qayyoom, telling him to conduct the Party within the Party laws.
