PPM President Maumoon Abdul Qayyoom has said that reform was an excellent boost to usher in development and progress.
He made the statement in a tweet posted today.
President Maumoon had recently unveiled a reform agenda for ruling PPM, stating that there were many issues within the Party that needed to be rectified. The reform agenda had been received less enthusiastically by many members of the Party Council.
PPM Deputy Leader Abdu Raheem Abdullah said President Yameen wished to conduct the 2018 presidential elections with President Maumoon backing him.
Recently resigned Home Minister Umar Naseer had spoken in a manner that had suggested that Maumoon will not back President Yameen in the future.
