Dr. Mohamed Iyaz has stated that he supported implementing qisas on Islamic Sharia principles.
The former Vice President of the Fiqh Academy, Dr. Iyaz said that implementing just the death penalty in order to carry out shariah was not just, but all Islamic sharia principles had to be implement. Words, he said must be supplemented by action.
Dr. Iyaz had expressed concern over the former Minister Umar Naseer who had stated that he will implement death penalty at the expense of others.
He also raised questions over the expedited Supreme Court verdict on Humam prior to announcing verdicts on other proven murderers.
Dr. Iyaz said that if the next of kin pardoned the murderer, then the death penalty cannot be implemented.
