Adhaalath Party VP Ali Zahir has stated that if President Maumoon Abdul Qayyoom’s agenda and the opposition mandate tallied up, then 80 percent of the work carried out by the opposition is completed.
He made the statement speaking to press after meeting Jumhooree Party Leader Qasim Ibrahim in his residence.
“There is no way that President Maumoon will go back to President Yameen’s camp. This is being seen. President Maumoon is now speaking our sentiments. So I believe we are working towards the same target,”
He said the aim of all opposition was to create an interim government and facilitate an equal chance for all opposition to contest in the election. Ali Zahir said that he had extended invitation to Qasim to join the opposition, where upon Qasim said that he needed to reflect on the issue.
Former Islamic Minister Dr. Abdul Majeed Abdul Baaree had attended the meeting. Qasim had not made a statement on the meeting.
All political camps have so far met Qasim to drum up support for their respective camps.
