Many Maldivians have condemned the terror attack on the Prophet’s Mosque in Madina this evening.
The attack on the second holiest site in Islam came after Maghrib prayers and occurred outside of the mosque. The attackers were unable to enter the mosque due to the security guards and in the process many lives were spared.
The attack has been hailed as an attack on Islam and many have said that this cannot be carried out by any Muslim.
So far five casualties had been reported; all were security guards.
Reports say that the attackers attempted to enter the mosque grounds at the time security guards was breaking their fasts.
