President’s Office Spokesperson Ibrahim Muaz Ali said that the President did not need to contest against political rivals.
The tweet came amid strong political infighting within the ruling PPM, with former President Maumoon directly voicing against President Yameen. In his tweet, Muaz said the President did not and had not contested against political rivals but rather he had contested against national issues.
He added that President gave full emphasis on fulfilling national development projects according to the set timetable.
The Spokesperson said the government was run within legal means and any decision taken by the President was for the benefit of the public.
