Competition increased due to legal ways President is working: Dr. Shainee
Fisheries and Agriculture Minister Dr. Mohamed Shainee has stated that political rivals increased in the country as the President is attempting to implement rule of law in the country.

Speaking to Miadhu regarding the question of the release of opposition leaders in jail in the all-party talks, Dr. Shainee said that he was not in a position to comment on that as all participants had agreed not to reveal any details discussed with the UN representative.

“If any party reveals the details it is done with the intent of disrupting the talks. The government will not do anything to halt the progress of talks. Our stance has been sincere from the start,”

Dr. Shainee asserted that the President will not act in any manner that will challenge the Constitution and will always prioritize on national interest. He said the fact that the President had submitted all motions to the Parliament in the event a change to the laws needed to be enacted was proof of this.

He said the President will not allow any party to dictate the terms, adding that all actions will be carried out within the legal means.

Dr. Shainee said the all-party talks will begin in July, with UN acting as a mediator. He added that the talks will show to the public sincerity from both the Government and the opposition.
