Home Minister Umar Naseer has said that the former President Mohamed Nasheed is using the terrorism card against Maldivians and claiming that there are radicals in Maldives to attract funds from foreign organizations.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Minister Umar Naseer said that radicals were created in Mohamed Nasheed’s 3 year rule more than they were created in the 30 year rule of Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and the 2 years and 35 day presidency of Dr. Mohamed Waheed.
“Usually radicals are created when the ruler challenges the religious rules and obstruct religious rites and when the government encourages various vices to be committed in the society. This is what happened in Nasheed’s government,” he said.
The Minister said that during Nasheed’s regime he openly encouraged the use of narcotics and narcotics were found in the Presidential Palace and tried to permit liquor to be sold in inhabited islands and formed ties with the Jewish occupation.
“During Nasheed’s regime he disappointed the people. The people have never been so disappointed with any government more than his government,” he said.
