Commissioner of Police Hussein Waheed has said that he does not know how the number of radicals in Maldives should be found and disclosed.
Speaking to Miadhu Daly, Commissioner Hussein Waheed said that there are international organizations who survey on the number of radicals existing in different countries and they share the information with the authorities of the respected countries.
“Therefore we also get such information. They receive information from us whenever necessary. So based on these findings we see that there are about 25 radicals in Maldives. So when a person suddenly claims that the figure reaches to more than 200 or 300 no sane person would believe it,” he said.
In addition to this, Commissioner of Police said that the Police today perform their religious duties and are practicing Muslims.
He said that if practicing Muslims are given the label of radicalism then the Police are radicals.
