Maldives Civil Servants Association (MCSA) has stated that it is possible that the President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom did not meet them while he met with the Teachers Association of Maldives (TAM) thinking that they have a political motive.
President of the Association, Mohamed Shaugee said that the organization requested an appointment with the President to raise their concerns however they were denied from this. He said that he believes that it was unfair for the President to meet the teachers but not MCSA.
“Perhaps he thought that we have a political agenda,” he said.
Shaugee said that MCSA is not a political organization and they do not have any political motive whatsoever.
Meanwhile, Vice President Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed recently said that this government was one that would take on the challenges faced in the education sector, and would give special priority to overcome them.
Shaugee said that he hopes that the government will take on the challenges faced by the civil servants and give special priority to overcome them.
He said that it is not fair to only increase the wages of the teachers just because they threatened to protest against the government.
