Indian High Commissioner Rajeev Sahare has said that the high commission is working to bring experts from India to train Maldivian teachers on how to conduct teaching sessions to children with special needs.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, the Indian High Commisisoner stated that the training sessions is planned to be held in Addu City and Kulhudhufushi in addition to capital Male’ City.
He assured that India would continue to support for short-term training courses in such special areas.
Meanwhile, High Commissioner of India to Maldives Rajeev Shahare handed over a cheque for USD 8177 (approx. MRF 126,000) to Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC) last month. The financial assistance would be used towards training of 26 Maldivian teachers from Male’, GDh. Thinadhoo, Fuamulak, Kulhudhufushi to attend a training programme on mainstreaming children with special needs, which will be hosted by Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust of India. The cheque was received by Ms. Hawla Ahmed Didi, Managing Director of ARC.
During the ceremony, the Indian High Commissioner announced one scholarship slot every year to interested Maldivians to pursue their degree program in India in the area of education for Special Needs Children.
