Will fully support efforts to make Arabic second language: Professor Abdul Fattah
Professor Abdul Fattah Sulaiman has said that the World Federation for Arab Islamic International School will fully support the Government’s initiative to make Arabic the second official language of the Maldives.

He made the statement, speaking to press after visiting Islamic University of the Maldives.

Professor Abdul Fattah said the World Federation for Arab Islamic International School was one of the oldest institutions in the OIC. The institution has engineered many projects over the years to spread Arabic language and the study of the language across the world.

Professor Abdul Fattah said the institution was mainly focused on teaching Arabic to children. As such, he noted the institution was providing books and teaching materials for students and teachers respectively. He said the institution had donated books to various schools in the Comoros Islands, as well as training teachers.

Professor Abdul Fattah revealed that the institution had planned to extend similar assistance to the Maldives, in collaboration with the Islamic University. He noted the best results came from training local teachers in Arabic, stressing that they will work on this aspect.

World Federation for Arab Islamic International School and Islamic University of the Maldives today signed an MOU to that effect.
