5th meeting on regional customs begins
The fifth meeting on SASEC Customs Sub Group has begun.

The Asian Development Bank funded South Asian Sub-Regional Economic Cooperation (SASEC)’s customs agencies meet on an annual basis.

Economic Minister was the chief guest of the ceremony held in Kurumba Maldives. In his address, Minister Saeed reflected on the vital role played by customs in bilateral trade, adding that customs principles have to be economically friendly as well.

Commissioner General of Customs Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed said that Customs was working to ensure that the Maldives was made to an investment positive nation, noting that this meeting will push progress forward and promote collaboration with region’s customs services.

The meeting is held to review the status of customs development projects run by Asian Development Bank and to seek areas of improvement. The meeting will also seek to establish a data sharing system between the six partner nations of the meeting.
