Adeeb submits witnesses to prove Finifenmaa was a ploy to remove him from power
Former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb has submitted witnesses to testify that the Finifenmaa incident was carried out to remove him from the Government.

The alleged statement was made in the Thursday hearing of the terror charges filed against Adeeb, his bodyguards Ahmed Amir and Hassan Rikaz.

Adeeb's legal team had submitted former President Maumoon's name as a witness to prove that the former president had used the Finifenmaa Launch on the night of September 27th. First Lady Madam Fathmath's name was submitted as a witness, to testify that President Yaameen's son had used a different launch to travel to Male' on the day of the bombing, after going to the airport to receive the President.

The state had alleged that Adeeb had planned to assassinate the President by many means, had planned to flee and that he had tried to escape the country following the bungled attempt. The state lawyers had noted that Adeeb was arrested from the airport after completing state visits to China and Singapore.

16 charges had been filed and 13 anonymous witnesses are to testify against Ahmed Adeeb.

The state has produced evidence against the former President arguing that he had played a dominant role in planting the IED which had exploded on the launch, the state also allegeed that Adeeb planned to rise to presidency after assassinating President Yaameen, and that Adeeb had tried to save a person who was implicated in the Finifenmaa blast. The state has also presented their case stating that Adeeb had weapons hidden in his Rehendhi flat and that weapons had been transported and hidden in Hibalhidhoo. The state has also alleged that both Adeeb's bodyguards had played a role in making the IED which was supposed to assassinate President Yaameen and has also presented evidence supporting this argument.

Additionally, medicolegal reports of President’s Office Spokesperson Ibrahim Muaz, two bodyguards, Secretary Fathimath and an additional person had been listed as evidence. However, the medicolegal report of First Lady, who had been reportedly sustained most damage, had not been listed as discovery.
