Minister of Defense and National Security Adam Shareef has stated that Pakistani assistance was required in developing and training individuals in counter terrorism field.
He made the statement, speaking to his Pakistani counterpart Khawaj Mohamed Asif on his ongoing trip to the nation.
Pakistani newspapers had reported that the Minister had said that Pakistani assistance was required in developing the nation’s armed forces, especially in the counter terrorism efforts.
Minister Khawaj remarked on the work carried out by the Maldives as a member organization of the SAARC, in developing regional ties. He also noted that it was essential that the two nations developed better ties as they were both Islamic nations.
The two ministers had discussed ways on further enhancing the existing defense ties and assistance.
