President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has opened the leisure zone in Hulhumale’ Central Park being developed by HDC.
First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim, Parliament Speaker Abdullah Maseeh, Cabinet members, HDC senior officials and citizens of Hulhumale’ attended the ceremony.
HDC Managing Director Mohamed Saiman said open spaces in crowded nations such as Maldives was rare but the public open spaces in Hulhumale’ were plenty.
“Open public spaces drive value of land up. In the future, the value of Hulhumale’ youth city land will also increase,”
Saiman said the Central Park will develop in four sectors, with two sectors to be completed this year. He added that even though open areas were planned for the city, not much work had been done to develop those areas. He added that in the past two and half years, much work had been done to develop the areas.
Saiman noted that the commercial land plots in the City were being utilized more of late. He added that development of the phase two of the second phase of the city was being proceeded as planned.
