Project to bring in record number of tourists is a success: Zameer
Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer has stated that the government’s initiative to bring in a record number of tourists to the country was a success so far.

He made the statement speaking in the ceremony held in Hotel Jen today, to open the Air Asia Travel and Service Center.

Minister Zameer noted that Air Asia played a key role in achieving that goal and congratulated the airline for bringing in an occupancy of 85 percent.

He added that major development work was being carried out in Ibrahim Nasir International Airport and Addu Airport, appealing Air Asia to begin flights to Addu. He also urged the company to make the best use of the resort opportunities available in the country.

Minister Zameer noted that President Yameen and the Government had encouraged foreign investors to operate in the country in alliance with the government.

Air Asia CEO Ireen Umar announced that Air Asia will look into the possibility of conducting flights to Addu and will investigate those possibilities during this trip.
