President also thanked those countries which had come forward to donate the materials and support Sri Lanka

India was on Friday sending two naval ships and a C-17 aircraft with relief material including medicines and tents along with teams of rescue experts to Sri Lanka.

A high-level meeting was held at the Indian Home Ministry which assessed the requirement of relief material and airlifting them to the island nation, as India promised to extend all necessary help to the neighbor

The Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka has announced that the government of Japan would provide to Sri Lanka through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) emergency relief goods such as plastic sheets, water purification units and generators.
