Three have been arrested, and remanded regarding the case of the missing journalist Ahmed Rilwan.
Police had confirmed that three had been arrested during Saturday regarding the case. They had revealed that the remand duration for one of them had been set for seven days, while the two had received a duration of five days by the court.
Under the investigation, Police have also revealed that in addition to the land search, 267,197.5 cubic meters of sea near Hulhumale' have been searched in 521 dive minutes. While they have also searched Safaris and other sea vessels docked at the Hulhumale' lagoon, so far 18 vessels have been searched under the investigation.
While police say that the samples taken under the investigation will be sent abroad, 2 cars were taken under police custody under court orders. The samples were taken from the two cars and sent to the Forensic Department for further analysis.
Police have said that they have thoroughly searched 8 houses in Male', 139 places in Hulhumale' including houses, warehouses and garages, as well as Hulhumale' beach area, empty plots, areas of the sea and the whole Farukolhufushi multiple times. In addition, empty areas, beach areas and 4 houses in Villimale' have been thoroughly searched.
Police had previously withheld passports of four people in relation to Rilwan's disappearance.
While police are analyzing 638,000 phone numbers that have hit cell towers on roads Rilwan could have traveled from, so far 111 individuals' statements have been taken investigated. 318 individuals have been questioned for information, and 77 apartments in Hulhumale' have been visited in hopes of gaining any information regarding this mysterious case.
