STO has slashed both wholesale and retail prices for potatoes, onions and eggs as part of their annual drive to provide basic staple foods at reduced prices.
Speaking to press at STO Supermart, General Manager Fathimath Ashan said the first shipment had arrived this morning and was already on sale.
STO now sells an egg for MVR 1.5, a kilo of onions for MVR 8 and a kilo of potatoes for MVR 12. An egg case sells for MVR 275, sack of onions for MVR 160 and a sack of potatoes now sells for MVR 250.
Ashan added that these items will be available for wholesale customers from STO number six plot. Until the start of Ramadan, customers will be able to purchase the items from 9am to noon and 1.30pm to 3.00pm, all day except Friday. In Ramadan the outlet will be operational from 10.00am to 2.00pm.
Ahsan said a special shipment will be dispatched directly to Addu City and will be sold soon.
“It will be sold at the same price in the 13 atoll outlets. Products are now available in Vilimale’, Hulhumale’ and Huvarafushi,”
Ashan added that a fresh shipment will arrive during the first 10 days of Ramadan and will ensure that stock is maintained without any damages. She also said products of STO own brand Choice condensed milk, corn oil and sunflower oil is now available in STO supermart.
