Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) together with the industry partners are set to promote the destination in a Roadshow held in the second tier cities of India: Lucknow, Chandigarh, Pune and Hyderabad from 16 – 20 May 2016. It was decided to focus on second tier cities because major cities such as Bangalore Mumbai, Kolkata and New Delhi were covered in the Roadshow held last year from 23 - 27 February 2015.
The main objective of the event is to share up to date information about Maldives with the Indian Travel, Trade and Media representatives and facilitate interaction with the Maldivian partners. Held as a part of the on-going Visit Maldives Year Promotions, this Roadshow would be an ideal platform to promote the destination in the Indian market and increase the number of arrivals from India.
Five industry partners will be participating in the Roadshow together with MMPRC, they are Lily Beach Resort & Spa, Travelers Street Pvt Ltd, Sun Siyam Resorts, Adaaran Resorts and Dusit Thani Maldives. This Roadshow would be an ideal platform for the partners to establish contact with the Indian Travel & Trade and provide them the latest updates of their products. A raffle draw will be taken in each city offering free holidays to the winners. The holiday prizes are sponsored by Dusit Thani Maldives and Sun Siyam Resorts.
With 4.1% market share, India is the sixth largest market to the destination in the first quarter of 2016. By the end of this period 14,171 tourist arrivals were recorded from India, this is an increase of 20% compared to the same period of 2015.
