Maldives Roadshow in France has been concluded successfully with a record number of visitors from each city. This Roadshow was held in Paris, Lille, Lyon and Marseille from 9-12 May 2016. 11 partners from Maldives participated in the Roadshow with MMPRC. They are Kandima Maldives,
Amilla Fushi, Sun Siyam Resorts, AAA Hotels & Resorts, Crown and Champa Resorts, JA Manafaru, Universal Resorts, Hummingbird Heymaa Travel Ltd, Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru, Soneva Resorts Residences and LUX* Resorts & Hotels.
The Roadshow witnessed strong participations from over 200 attendees from the travel trade industry of France. A number of media representatives also attended the Roadshow in each city. The Roadshow offered a platform for the Maldives to establish direct contact with the French travel trade. A destination presentation was given to visitors including the latest industry news,
the visitors also met with the partners from Maldives and familiarized with their products. At the end of each event a raffle was taken and winners were offered a free stay in Maldives. The holiday prizes are sponsored by Crown & Champa Resorts, Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru and AAA Hotels & Resorts. The industry partners who attended the event were satisfied with level of enthusiasm expressed by the visitors which portrayed the potentiality of stabilizing the market performance.
At the end of the first quarter of 2016, 16,425 tourist arrivals were recorded from France. France is the fifth largest market to the destination in this period with 4.8% of the market share. Hosting the Roadshow in major cities of is expected to strengthen the destination presence in France and boost the arrival numbers.
