Civil Service Commission President Dr. Ali Shameem has called on to all citizens to unite to create a greener Maldives.
He made the appeal in the inauguration ceremony of the tree planting program to be carried out by independent institutions on June 4, in the second phase of Hulhumale’.
Dr. Shameem said the program, run with the participation of 14 parties, will have additional components and will benefit the environment. He appealed to all citizens to take part in environment protection projects.
Speaking as the chief guest, Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim said that under the initiative, projects will be run to increase renewable energy and manage waste. He congratulated on the initiative.
The independent institutions taking part in the July 4, activities will sign a pledge to protect the environment.
Thoriq said the pledge was an important one, adding that all citizens must sign it.
