Saudi Govt. grants 2000 Hajj quota
President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has revealed that the Saudi King Salman Abdul Aziz Al-Saud has granted a Hajj quota of 2000 for this year’s pilgrimage.

He made the statement speaking in the opening of the Bilal mosque in L. Maavah. The mosque was constructed with the aid of Saudi Government. In his address, President Yameen said that this was a representation of the close relationship between the two nations.

President Yameen added that King Salman was assisting in the construction of the mosques in the Maldives on his own accord. He noted that the projects were delayed due to issues within the Maldives. He added that the Islamic Center being built with Saudi assistance will be put on tender soon.

Additionally, President said that Saudi government was assisting in the development of Islamic University, with more assistance to follow.

President Yameen thanked Saudi King and the Government for their assistance.

President Yameen today appealed to scholars to refrain from divisive issues.
