Will end term without debt: President Yameen
President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has said that he will end his term without increasing national debt.

Speaking in the inauguration ceremony of the Gan sewerage network, President Yameen said that when he assumed power, the nation was in major debt. He said most of these debts had be paid directly by the state and earned zero benefits to the public.

President Yameen said that he would end his tenure as President with the results of his tenure visible to the public.

He also appealed to those citizens living abroad to serve the nation in any capacity possible.

The President said that the tenure of political figures will expire, and that any work carried out for development cannot be claimed by political leaders. Those work, he said will remain in the public sphere.

He warned that the citizens will recognize and mark if the opposition halts any service to the public and that it will become a deciding factor in the coming elections.

Reflecting on the role of media, President Yaeen said that media have to be more responsible and accountable.
