Singapore’s Royal Institute has conferred honorary fellow status to former President Maumoon Abdul Qayyoom.
The status was conferred on the former President in the Institutions’ 7th Global Congress and Conferment ceremony held this afternoon in Hotel Jen.
This is the first time the fellowship has been conferred to an individual from the South East Asia region from the Institution.
It was given to President Maumoon in recognition of the work he had carried out to develop the country.
In his address to the ceremony, President Maumoon reflected on the changes that had occurred in the country during his tenure from 1978 to 2008.
