ACC President Hassan Luthfee has called on parents and guardians to be more responsible, urging them to be more mindful of their duties in a bid to lessen the number of minors being shifted to children’s shelters.
Speaking to Miadhu over the weekend, Luthfee said the situation was a deeply concerning one and that children were being located to the shelters due to lack of care from parents and guardians.
“It is deeply concerning when children have to come to these places due to lack of care,”
Luthfee stressed that this was happening because Islamic values and principles were being constantly rejected by many.
Two shelters are currently operational in the country. Majority of the children housed in the shelters had been shifted there due to negligence from parents due to a multitude of reasons.
Whilst the situation has reached extreme levels, scholars are calling citizens to rectify the issue.
