President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that it is not acceptable to protest and rally in such a way that it disrupts the public and even if it is his own party taking to the streets, they will be dispersed.
Speaking at the harbor opening ceremony at Dh. Maaenboodhoo today, President Yameen said that his intention as the president is not to make things difficult for the people. And he said that a PPM Government would not govern in way that negatively affects the people. President Yameen said that even if other party’s actions are disrupting the daily lives of the people, the current government will stop them.
He said that MDP had protested even during their tenure as leaders and that this pattern is repeating even today.
He added that he was in touch with the views and needs of the public and continuous daily protests would do nothing but disrupt the nation. President said that right to protest was a given right in the public but those rights have to be exercised prudently.
