President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has urged all citizens to maximize the economic benefits of the land.
He made the statement addressing the citizens of Dh. Kudahuvadhoo.
In his address, President Yameen said that even though most of the reclaimed 40 hectares of land in the island will be leased for housing, it was vital to develop some of the land on economic purposes.
“When planning an island, the Government always allocates a certain portion of the land for economic development, based on the total available land. Benefits can be reaped on a long term basis only if such aspects are developed,” he said.
President Yameen said that Kudahuvadhoo expansion may link Hulhudheli but that will be part of a different phase. He urged citizens to make the best use of the newly reclaimed land.
President Yameen said that the whole population of the island was around 3000 and that more development plans have been planned for the island.
