The bridge guide frames for the China Maldives Friendship Bridge has been placed.
A tweet posted by Housing Minister states that the work on the guide frames for the bridge had been completed over the weekend.
The guide frames, placed on top of the platforms, will help position the piles required to construct the main foundation of the bridge. All guide frames will be placed on the five platforms.
Housing Ministry has estimated that the foundation of the bridge will be started between July and August this year.
The two kilometer bridge linking Male’ and Hulhule’ will have a width of 20.3 meters. The bridge project is expected to cost around US$ 210 million (MVR 3.2 billion). The government has estimated that the bridge project will be completed by 2018.
