Villa Foundation Founder Qasim Ibrahim has stated that he had always recognized the pivotal role played by education in national development and as such had always prioritized on fostering education in the nation.
Qasim, one of the biggest private contributors to education, made the statements speaking in the convocation ceremony held this morning in Dharubaaruge. He congratulated the graduates on their achievements.
Qasim said he had always invested in the education sector, stating that this was a vital investment to the future of the nation. He added that education need not be limited by age, stating that part-time education schemes were now available for employees and families.
He further said there were many challenges to the nation, economy and state and that we had to carefully address those issues. He specially noted that there were significant challenges to the job market, urging graduates to broaden their horizons abroad.
Qasim appealed to students to reflect on those issues, especially when going towards employment.
He also thanked OUM for their continued assistance to the programs run by Villa College and the Villa College team for the assistance they had consistently provided to students.
