Thoddoo Constituency Member of Parliament Ibrahim Hassan (Evila) has stated that if the finances deducted from the salary cannot be used in dire health conditions, then it should not be deducted from the salary.
Speaking in today’s Parliament session, Ibrahim Hassan said he fully supported the amendment to the Pension Act, which states the pension funds can be used to pay the down payments or pay mortgage on the purchase of flats.
Ibrahim Hassan said it was next to impossible for individuals to withdraw pension funds during dire medical emergencies. He added that some had died without having been able to make use of the pension funds.
The MP noted that this was a key concern for many, adding that health and wellbeing were essential factors in purchasing and habiting a residence.
Kudahuvadhoo Constituency MP Ahmed Amir said in today’s session that there were many who had no access to Aasanda services, noting that they have to be given the option to pay with their own finances.
