Islamic University to hold symposium on coexistence
Islamic University of the Maldives (IUM) has revealed that the University will hold a symposium on coexistence, especially in the face of differing views.

IUM said the symposium which will be held from 19 to 20th of November and will be the first of its nature to be held in the country. Both local and international scholars will be taking part in the symposium.

The symposium is being held at a time when religious differences, especially on the interpretation of Islamic Shariah, is the root cause of many religious issues in the world. This has been the root cause of extremism and in many cases, the foundation of terrorism. Due to this, the perception of Islam and Muslims had deteriorated as well.

Therefore, forums and symposiums such as this, played a vital role in disseminating information on Islam, which is also stressed on by scholars and imams.

Islamic University said the symposium will reveal the truth regarding Islam, clear the misconceptions regarding Islam and the extent to which peace is emphasized in Islam. The Symposium will be conducted in English, Arabic and in Dhivehi.
