UN contingent in the Maldives to assist political situation: Dr. Shainee
Fisheries and Agriculture Minister and the lead negotiator at the all-party talks, Dr. Mohamed Shainee has stated the visiting United Nation’s delegation was in the country to observe and assist in resolving the political situation, through the all-party talks.

Speaking to press in the President’s Office, Dr. Shainee said the Government had communicated how they wished to continue the talks to the contingent.

Dr. Shainee said the Government had no agenda in the talks, adding that they had communicated to the contingent the issue of former President Mohamed Nasheed was on the agenda as well.

Dr. Shainee further said that contingent will undertake discussions with representatives of other parties and a decision will be made following the discussions.

“The Government wishes to conduct talks in order to facilitate the progression of the economic and social agenda pioneered by the President. We don’t have an agenda,” Dr. Shainee said.
