16 expatriates will serve in IUM from June
Vice Chancellor of Islamic University of the Maldives Chancellor Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has stated that 16 international figures will serve in the post graduate programs that will begin in June this year.

Speaking in a press conference held in Islamic University this afternoon, Dr. Shaheem said professors, associate professors and doctors who lecture in various Universities are amongst those figures.

Dr. Shaheem further said most of these individuals will be serving on a voluntary basis, with the University paying a small stipend.

He added that five lecturers from King Khalid University, Saudi Arabia, will be dispatched during this period and they will each work free of charge for 15 days.

“All expenses for the five individuals will be borne by the King Khalid University; this is a grant to IUM by the University,” he said.

He also said the visiting lecturers will come from Malaysian, Saudi, Jordanian and UK universities.

“Many scholars of Professor Arif Ali Arif are in the country, I being one. He is one of the visiting scholars from Malaysian University. Visiting scholar from Saudi Arabia, Professor Abdul Muhsin Al-Zikry is an internationally prominent scholar in the field of higher institute of judicial sciences,” he said.

Dr. Shaheem alsi noted that from June onwards some international lecturers will be employed as full time lecturers and will provide support to the visiting lecturers.

He said that this was the result of work carried out by the University team during a very short period and congratulated the team for their endeavor.
