Civil Court has announced that the commercial division of the Court will be opened in Hulhumale’ in the near future.
JSC Member, Latheefa Qasim, made the announcement speaking in the ceremony held to swear in new Judges to Civil and Criminal Courts.
Qasim said the Judges have to be resilient to the changes to the society. She added the commercial sector was the fastest growing sector, noting the Judges have to give special focus to that sector as well.
Qasim added the Judiciary have to be prepared for any legal issue that can arise, given the rise of international investment into the country. She noted the Judiciary have to be prepared for the issues and bring state of art changes to the sector.
She said the Courts have to adapt modern principles, especially arbitration and have to gain systems and resources for such an endeavor. Qasim further said the Judiciary and the Government were working together to bring about such a change.
