Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has ordered Housing Ministry to follow the set guidelines for sale of flats.
The Housing Ministry announcement number (IUL)138-DS1/138/2016/18 issued on 15th March 2016, states that if the number of potential buyers for a property or a flat was higher than the number of flats or properties, then lots must be drawn up to determine the buyers.
ACC said the government owned flats from the 363 number block (TV block) currently on sale cannot be sold to the highest bidder, as it was an unfair proposition. ACC said the transactions should be within the means set in the Housing Ministry announcement numbers (IUL)138-EXS1/138/2016/30 and (IUL)138-EXS1/138/2016/31.
Additionally, ACC said even if the potential buyer takes a home loan to purchase the flat, the buyer should be treated as an eligible buyer, so long as he is able to issue a bank guarantee.
