Former Health and Environment Minister Dr. Mariyam Shakeela has released a book of poems, titled “Hope Beyond Shadows of Pain” in United States.
The 60-page tome was released on the first of this month by Exlibirius Publishers. The book is now available on Amazon; hard covers cost US$ 24.99 and paperbacks are available for US$ 15.99.
The book is a personal reflection on the various stages of life for the former Minister. Dr. Shakeela had battled cancer three times over and the political turmoil she had faced during her tenure as Minister.
Speaking about her experiences, Dr. Shakeela said she had exited her home every morning without the guarantee that she will be able to come back home safely.
Dr. Shakeela further said the book will be a source of comfort for those enduring hardship and loneliness.
She had also released a book of poetry in Dhivehi as well. Dr. Shakeela currently reside in Australia.
