Vice Chancellor of Maldives Islamic University Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has said that he was focusing on making the university accepted both locally and internationally.
Speaking in a press conference held in the University today, Dr. Shaheem said that the university was conducting research on how the goal can be achieved.
“As I said during the convocation, the biggest challenge to the University is the issue of space. We are currently in discussions with relevant agencies. We are working towards our goal of making the university a standard setter in the region,” he said.
Focusing on the importance of research for the development of universities, Dr. Shaheem said differing fatwas spread due to lack of research. He also said academic research into these issues will resolve the said situations.
Dr. Shaheem also commended President Yameen’s initiative to make the University to a research institution in his address at the recently held convocation.
