Attorney General of the state, Mohamed Anil has appealed to give attention to individuals with special needs when granting jobs.
The Attorney General made this remark at the ceremony held to confer the Disability Award 2014 to individuals and organizations working to promote the rights of those with special needs.
He noted that there are many responsibilities upon the families of individuals with special needs. He also noted that there are difficulties in providing them with the basic needs granted by the constitution.
However, he said he is very happy that things are changing and more people are aware of the rights of individuals with special needs.
Meanwhile, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom also spoke in the ceremony. He underscored the importance of assisting those with special needs to realize and develop various skills and talents.
The President also extended his assurance that the Government would work towards training professionals who could support these individuals.
