MWSC has stated that the water pressure issues were now being resolved and they were increasing the water pressure from morning onwards.
Speaking to press, MWSC Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed said that the issues that had occurred in the boreholes had prevented effective supply of water yesterday, but there was no complete halt to service.
Fazul said the disruptions had occurred during the time when the company was replacing the damaged panel boards in the 2014 water crisis. He added that 20 percent of damages had been resolved with STELCO assistance.
Fazul said that even though the water pressure had been increased, the pressure will be lowered between midnight and 5.30am.
“We are not completely halting water supply, just limiting during off peak hours,” he said.
Fazul said the issue that had occurred was a minor one, adding the company’s engineers were working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. He also said that water will be brought in as needed and that the company was achieving remarkable success on progress.
“We brought in additional supplies of water yesterday, as a backup. We used that water to supply water at high pressure,” he said.
Fazul noted that RO plans will be established in three parts in Male’ to resolve the water supply issue, noting that the RO plants have been ordered.
Fazul added that the opposition figures had exaggerated the situation on social media and that those exaggerations were rumors. He condemned those rumors.
Fazul further said that water sale to shops had been stopped but had sold water to those who came to the outlet.
