Information Commissioner had expressed concern over the erroneous messages made by some media regarding the Civil Court case involving Haveeru news.
Abdul Aziz said that the Civil Court ruling had not called for a halt to Haveeru release and therefore claiming that in various media was libel and that it was deeply concerning.
The Civil Court ruling said that Haveeru News Agency has been asked not to carry out any work related to the online version without the involvement of the plaintiffs – Farooq Hassan and Ibrahim Rasheed Moosa.
Abdul Aziz said that the media reports on the case, in spite of the clear ruling, were extremely concerning. This, he added, was also being reported by international media quoting local sources.
Haveeru is one of the largest and oldest daily.
