Elections Commission (EC) has stated that the Commission will always work to ensure that the elections that are held in the country are free and fair.
The Commission made the statement speaking in the ceremony held in Islamic Centre to launch the Commission’s strategic plan today.
The Commission said that they will conduct biannual meetings with political parties and if there were any issues the Commission will resolve it with discussions with the Party.
UN had given technical assistance in compiling the five year plan. EC added that they will seek UN assistance in carrying out the national campaigns in accordance to their mandate.
UN had urged EC and relevant stakeholders to address and resolve the concerns expressed by the political parties. UN also urged to address the corruption claims in relation to elections.
