Shameema Hussain has won the SAARC TB Award for 2015, an annual award given to those working in the field of TB treatment and eradication, given by SAARC TB Centre.
The award was conferred to Shameema by SAARC TB and HIV Centre Governing Board’s Member Dr. Abdul Aziz Yoosuf in recognition of the 40 years of service to the health sector, out of which 37 years was spent on implementing the national TB policy. The award recognizing her services to health sector was conferred by Health Minister Irthisham Adam.
In addition to her official duties, Shameema had contributed to the field on a personal individual basis.
Health Minister congratulated her on the international recognition Shameema had achieved on behalf of the nation.
WHO Country Representative Dr. Arvind Mathur congratulated Shameema on her achievements and urged other industry professionals such as Shameema to persevere in their field.
