Bangladeshi assistance to health sector is invaluable: Irthisham
Health Minister Irthisham Adam has said that Bangladesh had always assisted the Maldives’ health sector.

She made the statement in delivering the keynote address given at the ceremony held to mark the 45th independence day of Bangladesh. The ceremony was held in Dharubaaruge.

In her address Minister Irthisham said that even now 300 Maldivian students were completing their higher education in Bangladesh. She noted that out of this, over 100 students were completing their internship as part of their MBBS qualification.

Minister Irthisham also noted the diplomatic ties between the two nations, adding that Bangladesh had always supported the Maldives in international issues. She added that the two countries had had a close relationship over the years, stating that Bangladesh was a key trading partner before.

She further noted the pivotal role played by Bangladeshi citizens in the development of the Maldives, adding that their contribution facilitated economic growth.
