Six tagged under Monicon, three more under monitoring
The High Court has issued a monicon order against six more individuals, in addition to the three that are currently being monitored following the order by Home Minister Umar Naseer.

Home Minister Umar Naseer previously ordered for a monicon order to be issued against 11 individuals who belong to various gangs in Maldives.

The six now tagged under monicon are Fassaan Waleed, Mohamed Mafaaz Hussain Saleem, Midh’hath Abubakr, Assad Ibrahim Rasheed, Mohamed Shabil Ismail and Ahmed Rizam.

Two out of the five individuals under monitoring are currently under Police custody, arrested in connection to another case.

The initial monicon order was issued on 24th of this month on Mohamed Mafaz Hussain Saleem, Hamdhan Hassan, Assad Ibrahim Rasheed, Musthafa Moosa and Ahmed Azmaan.

Under the monicon, individuals will not be allowed to roam outside between 10pm and 6am. They will not be allowed to leave the country without permission from the Minister and they will be banned from entering certain areas. Under the monicon, their financial transactions and communications will be tracked. The individuals will have to report to the Police on a daily basis. They will be tagged and samples of fingerprints and data on where they live will be recorded.
