Commissioner of Police Ahmed Areef has said that he did believe that there were many areas that needed to be reformed in the Maldives Police Service.
Speaking in a meeting held with the members of Kaaf Hinmafushi Council, CP Areef said that many reforms had been undertaken in the Police. He added that it was deeply saddening that many had taken to defame the agency, urging all to lend assistance to the agency to improve.
Noting that family members of serving officers faced threats and warnings, he said that he will seek to enact measures to protect the families.
CP Areef said that he will welcome all constructive criticism to the agency, adding that it was a vital part in ensuring that the agency earned the respect and trust of the public. He added that public assistance and input was vital in carrying out this mandate.
