76th Pakistan Day celebrated in the Male’
The 76th Pakistan Day has been celebrated in Male’ City.

Home Minister Umar Naseer was the Chief Guest of the ceremony held in Hotel Jen.

Speaking in the ceremony, Minister Umar highlighted on the close relationship enjoyed by the two nations over the years and the continued assistance provided by Pakistan.

Minister Umar added that the government had initiated many plans to improve the bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in transport, medicine and in training nurses as well as close ties between the citizens of the two countries.

He noted the pivotal role Pakistan and Maldives played in SAARC to promote regional stability and growth. He welcomed the efforts by Pakistan in demonstrating the country’s successes, growth and development.

Pakistani High Commissioner Vice Admiral (Rtd) Syed Khawar Ali Shah spoke on the enduring friendship between the two nations and the Maldives’ development over the years. He remarked that Maldives was the top in terms of GDP and progress in health sector in the past few years.

He said that the Maldivians had always admired and revered Pakistani leaders and welcomed the citizens of Pakistan warmly.

“Many parents have named their children after Pakistani founder Mohamed Ali Janaah; a sign of deep respect and honor,” he said.

Foreign Secretary, State Dignitaries, diplomats and Pakistani citizens residing in the Maldives took part in the ceremony.
